Jacksons slammed over Paris tribute

The Jackson family have been criticised all over the Internet for allowing Michael's daughter to speak at his funeral.
The Jackson family have been criticised all over the Internet for allowing Michael's daughter to speak at his funeral.

Bloggers, forums and social networking sites went crazy with fury as the memorial service to Michael Jackson came to a close with an emotional tribute from his daughter Paris.

Surrounded by Jackson's family, including his sisters and her aunts Janet and LaToya, the 11-year-old took to the stage for the climax of the memorial ceremony which was watched live on TV by a billion people around the world.

Urged to "speak louder honey" by Janet, Paris told the world how much she loved her dad in front of the 19,000-strong audience at the Staples Center, Los Angeles.

Tears streaming down her face, she sobbed: "Ever since I was born Daddy has been the best father you could ever imagine.

"And I just want to say I love him so much."

She then collapsed into Janet's arms as the rest of the family, including her brothers Prince, 12, and Blanket, seven, embraced her in a group hug.

But the incident angered many around the world, who said a little girl should not have been exposed in that way on what was one of the saddest days of her life.

On Facebook, furious users slammed the Jackson family for allowing her to speak publicy, with one saying: "Why would you make a grieving 11-year-old go on stage before an audience of billions to talk about her recently-dead father? Why? The fucking Jackson family should all be shot.

"I am not doubting the sentiment of Paris at all - she was in bits. But her being made to do that was sooooo wrong. I am worried for the wellbeing of a bereaved young girl who has been put in a glaring media spotlight for reasons that are not in her best interest."

Another wrote: "I have no idea what the fuck they thought they were doing with Paris. That was ghoulish, the poor baby."

Someone else posted: "Shame on the Jackson family for putting that little girl on the stage to cry over her fathers coffin. They're pimping the kids out already and Michael is barely cold in his grave. Not good. Most tasteless television I have seen in a long time."

While another user added: "Is it just me, or was that really a comedy of the grotesque?

Other viewers reacted on Twitter as users posted their disgust, with celebrity blogger Perez Hilton saying: "Nooooo!!!!!!! Those kids should not be putting on a show right now. So wrong. They should not be speaking or on stage. So horrible."
