Britney Spears' relationship with new beau David Lucado is far from predictable.

The 31-year-old star has been dating the 27-year-old legal researcher for several months after splitting with fiancé Jason Trawick back in January.

And the nature of Britney's novel romance contrasts greatly with her time spent with the talent agent.

'Britney's relationship with David is night and day from her relationship with Jason,' a source told Life & Style magazine.

'Not only was Jason her agent, for a lot of their relationship he was also her conservator. Business was wrapped up in the romance in a really weird, confusing way.'

Britney's father Jamie took out a conservatorship over his daughter following her well-publicised meltdown back in 2007. During this episode she shaved her head and was placed under psychiatric hold in a Los Angeles hospital.

Last April Jason came on-board as co-conservator, but then removed himself from oversight just before they broke up.

Britney has no legal ties with new boyfriend David.

'With David it's just all fun, just because they like each other,' the source added. 'It must be a breath of fresh air for Brit.'

However, Jamie Spears has reportedly vowed to 'keep a close eye' on the star following her break-up from Jason.

He is said to be concerned about the speed at which things are developing between his daughter and her new man.

'He likes David, but they've only been dating a few months,' a source recently told British magazine Now.
