Madonna reportedly feels her 'greatest failure' has created her 'greatest success'.

The singer is still getting over her divorce from film director Guy Ritchie, who she split from in 2008.

Her new record MDNA is crammed with references to their separation. Although the album isn't officially released until the end of this week, it's already become the most pre-ordered LP ever on ITunes.

'Madonna is back on top, but it comes from a place where she was emotionally not just at the bottom, but at rock bottom. It's a real twist that what she feels is her greatest failure has given her what could be her greatest ever success,' a source told the British edition of Grazia magazine.

Several of the lyrics on the record are expressly about a romance which was gone wrong.

On I Don't Give A, she sings: 'I tried to be a good girl, I tried to be your wife/ I was trying to be all your expected of me/ I blamed you when things didn't go my way/ I could have just kept my big mouth shut.'

Madonna has previously admitted she uses her personal experiences when she is penning lyrics.

'This album is about a woman who'd been hurt, who's trying to get through it and who is living every day with her own disappointment as well as her success. Who can't relate to that?' the insider added.

Although Madonna has since moved on and is now dating dancer Brahim Zaibat, 24, she apparently isn't ready to settle down fully again.

It was recently reported that Brahim had asked the 53-year-old to marry him, but she is said to have turned him down.

'She has been burnt. She's dated hundreds of men in her life but only married two: Sean Penn and Guy,' the source explained. 'She loved both very deeply. Both were a type ' a type she loves but can't have. Brahim is a type who loves her. She likes him a lot, she has fun, but I don't think he's in her soul.'
