Selena Gomez has completed a stint in rehab, her representative has confirmed.
The 21-year-old actress cancelled a string on tour dates in December, telling fans she needed time to focus on herself.
It's now been confirmed she spent two weeks at Dawn at The Meadows recovery facility in Wickenburg, Arizona, at the beginning of January.
'Selena voluntarily spent time at Meadows but not for substance abuse,' her spokesperson told RadarOnline.
The website claims it was emotional issues which forced the former Disney star to get help. She began her spell at the clinic on January 5.
Dawn is the wing of Meadows for young people aged between 18 and 26, and its website says it specialises in helping those with emotional trauma, addiction or duel diagnosis.
Radar claims Selena had been 'partying very hard' before she sought help, which caused concern among her loved ones.
'Her friends and family became increasingly worried that there might be a serious problem with Selena,' a source claimed.
'Particularly, her parents. The partying was, at times, wild. They wanted to help her - and they very much encouraged her to go to rehab. Others very close to her also urged her to seek professional help.'
Selena is understood to have made the decision to go to rehab herself. As she grew up on the Disney channel her life has been hectic, especially as she has been making movies and new music of late. She apparently realised she needed some time out from Los Angeles to focus on her wellbeing.
'She was exhausted. Selena was smart enough to understand that she needed to take control of her life,' another insider claimed.
'It just got to a point where she needed to get out of Los Angeles, get away from 'the scene' and the pressures of Hollywood, to also get away from those who had, admittedly, become a bad influence on her.'
Selena is also known to have struggled with her split from Justin Bieber last year. It was rumoured they had reunited recently, but they are now not thought to be together.
