Beyonce Knowles teased fans with a new track on Sunday entitled Bow Down/I Been On.
The diva is working on her fifth studio album and promoted her latest single on her Instagram account at the weekend.
She shared a photo of a young girl wearing a sash and surrounded by trophies with the title 'Bow Down' superimposed over the image.
The singer included a link to her website, where fans could listen to the three-and-a-half minute song via SoundCloud.
Beyonce refers in the lyrics to taking time off music after the birth of her one-year-old daughter with husband Jay-Z.
"I know when you were little girls, you dreamed of being in my world/Don't forget it, don't forget it/Respect that/Bow down b**ches,' she sings with a growl.
"I took some time to live my life, but don't think I'm just his little wife/Don't get it twisted, get it twisted/This my sh**,' she proclaims.
The Huffington Post reports the song is produced by Hit-Boy. The record producer was behind Jay-Z and Kanye West's hit track N**gas in Paris.
Beyonce's reference to her rapper husband, real name Shawn Carter, follows the singer's premiere of her HBO documentary Life Is But a Dream last month.
The film features entries from Beyonce's private video diaries and behind-the-scenes footage from rehearsals and shows. It also gave fans a never-before-seen glimpse into her private life as a wife and mother to her baby girl Blue Ivy.
Beyonce is throwing herself back into her work since taking some time off to focus on her personal life.
She performed at the Super Bowl half-time show last month and in addition to working on her album is also preparing to hit the road for another international tour next month.
