George Michael to 'start again' after being released from jail

The 'Freedom' singer left Highpoint Prison in Suffolk, East England, this morning for driving under the influence of drugs and possession of cannabis and thanked fans for their support during his incarceration.
The 'Freedom' singer left Highpoint Prison in Suffolk, East England, this morning (11.10.10) for driving under the influence of drugs and possession of cannabis and thanked fans for their support during his incarceration.

He said: ' just want to start again. It's fantastic to be out, It's a beautiful day. I just want to say thank you for everybody who has supported me in there, it's quite inspirational."

George also hinted he is ready to record new music and wants to reconnect with his fans.

He told photographers outside his north London home: "You're going to be seeing a lot more from me. I'm not going to be running away from you guys anymore.

"Oh, by the way, I've just thought of a really good song. It's gonna have nothing to do with prison."

George's long-term partner Kenny Goss also spoke of his delight at the star's release.

He said: "I'm glad he's home. He's really happy and we're glad he's back."

As well as his jail term, George - who is expected to serve the rest of his sentence under the supervision of the probation service - was also banned from driving for five years and heavily fined after pleading guilty to the offences, which stem from when he crashed his car into a shop window in July.
